3 months

Life has been crazy busy around here. Since I last posted over a month ago we celebrated Sterling's 5th birthday at Great Wolfe Lodge, said several "see you later" to some very dear friends of ours who moved due to military life, hosted another sweet baby shower, started landscaping the yard (wooohooo and finally), have had friends over for bonfires, family from E. Oregon came for a visit, Sterling ran his first race on the 4th of July, went to a Rainier's game and ran another race (color in motion 5k) with Sterling this a.m. We are all a very tired bunch. I wanted to document pictures of Capri at 3 months even though she is closer to 4 months. Time goes by way too fast around here.

 

Here is a little bit about our sweet Capri:

Auburn Hair

Blue Eyes

Blows bubbles

Loves to eat her hands ALL.DAY.LONG

Tries to laugh and but it comes out as squeaks

Doesn't have much of a cry, more like a yell

Just over 14 lbs

Size 2 diapers

6 month clothing

Wakes up once in the night

Loves kisses from her dad

Get's lugged around and doesn't mind one bit

2 months

Seriously, time has flown by. We are 2 months in as a family of five and loving it. We can't imagine life without Capri. She brings so much sweetness to this home of ours.

These are some thoughts from a sleep deprived mom of what life looks like right now:

-Capri sleeps next to me in one super girly bassinet and wakes one to two times a night. Oh how I love those 4 hr segments of sleep. Justin is ready to move her into her room but I have convinced him that she is too sweet and little to be that independent yet. Ha! 

-She is starting to coo and has found her limbs. She has yet to smile (only in her sleep have we seen it) but has a happy smirk and look on her face when we kiss her belly.

-She has taught me about sacrifice. I can't drink coffee because it makes her super gassy and gives her a diaper rash. Sacrifice = giving up something you love for something you love more. I would be lying if I said it wasn't really hard for me to give it up. I love coffee. The way it tastes and the comfort of a warm beverage in the morning. I tried to work it back into my diet and she got a horrible diaper rash by evening time. I felt like a really bad mom that I chose coffee over her well being. I have learned just a sliver of what the word sacrifice means...and I mean sliver. I have a lot of growing to do! :) I will really appreciate that cup of coffee in 9 or so months. Each kiddo that God has given us reveals more and more of my selfish nature. I continue to become refined and learn what "dying to self" really means. I love it even though it feels really hard.

-She gets smothered with kisses from every family member. I kiss her enough that it will cover all the days of her life that I won't get to see her. I think we are close to covering her four years of college (1,400 or so kisses). This is no joke. :)  (I really don't count but I do know that when she is awake she is being kissed). She is just that lovable.

-She is really tiny but thriving. She hasn't had her 2 month check-up but on our scale she is about to hit ten lbs. She is just about to grow out of newborn clothes and is in a size 1 diaper. She is our smallest baby to date. I'm working hard to plump her up.

-She has blue eyes and I think they will stay blue. Her hair is dark but the fuzz that is coming in looks light.

-She has long fingers and toes and eyelashes.

Over 1 month down as a family of five! We love this little girl to pieces and can't wait to get to know her little personality more. So far she is a big fan of eating, sleeping and pooping plus a few other more exciting things listed in the picture at the top. Capri has no idea how much she is going to be loved and spoiled being the only little girl in this family. I can't wait for all those next things like: cooing, smiling, giggling, babbling and crawling. But for now we will enjoy watching her sleep!

a little bit of life

Capri is already 5 weeks old. Time has been a bit of a blur since her arrival but here are some of the things my mind has been consumed with:

-We had many amazing visitors come and meet Capri at the hospital which blessed me beyond words.

-My parents took the boys two days a week for three weeks so Justin could still put some hrs into work which would elongate his time home with us. I am very very thankful for them!

-I have the most amazing husband ever. Pretty sure he brought me every meal in bed for three weeks so I could feel fully recovered from my c-section. He teaches me about selflessness everyday by the way he loves  his family. He is such a great man, husband and dad.

-Our Life Church family is unreal. We had so many amazing people bring us amazing meals for many days. Their generosity blessed our family in a big big way. We love living in such a wonderful gospel community and can't imagine our life without them.

-Capri took her first shopping trip with me last week to Home Goods and Hobby Lobby. Just the two of us. I was so tired afterwards and probably won't venture out again for another few weeks.

-Capri had her first beach day this week. She will most likely be a beach bum like her mom.

-Sterling and Boone are totally smitten with their little sister. Sterling cannot believe how much in love he is with her and is totally bummed he can't marry her. :) He says "I love my sister more than: going to the store to buy a new toy, more than candy, more than the galaxy and more than you." He also says "Sister is sweeter than ice cream." I love that kid. Boone walks by her and says "I love her." and "I like my baby sister." These boys make me melt.

-Grandma and Grandpa Officer came to visit us for a few days and it blessed our socks right off. The way they roll into town with no agenda but to love us and serve us was quite humbling. My MIL did all the laundry which was a lot and cooked every meal and kept the kitchen clean the whole time. I just love them and the way they play with our children. We are itchin' to see them again!

-Justin went to Las Vegas for three days and I somehow did all three kids on my own. It was scary at times  but I survived. :) I did get very ran down since I didn't get to take a nap or rest really at all and am now paying for it with a really sore throat. Thankful I got into the doctors today and am on antibiotics. AND very thankful my hubby is home to parent with me!
